SIMMONDS

WELCOME to Simmonds Class!

Our class is named after the Paralympian Eleanor Simmonds, otherwise known as Ellie Simmonds.  Simmonds is a swimmer and has represented GB at the Paralympics.  At the age of just 13 she was the youngest athlete at the Olympics in 2008 where she was awarded a gold medal for the 100m freestyle and 400m freestyle. She is someone who we have found to be inspirational and motivational.  Her motto is: Coming second is not an option.

If she can do it, so can WE! smiley

We hope to have lots of fun this year, as well as lots of engaging and independent learning. Throughout the year we will be studying interesting and different subjects in our topic lessons. These include Gods and Mortals, Predator, Urban Pioneers, Heroes and Villains, Scrumdidlyumptious and Flow.

We decided to write our own class moto or oath:

Simmonds Class Oath

In the name of Simmonds class, I promise that I shall always smile and be happy.  I shall take part in all of Wilshere-Dacre Junior Academy’s adventures, respect others and their property, committing to our independent learning, in the true spirit of our school, for the glory of our class and the honour of our friendships.
