CAROL SINGING - December

Various carol singing appointments in the local community, including Nightingale House, Westmill Lawns, Andersson House and our own Christmas Fair.

HITCHIN FESTIVAL SCHOOLS CONCERT - ST MARY'S CHURCH - Monday 1st July

Well done to all those who came along to this very successful concert at the beautiful St Mary's Church.  We sang 4 challenging songs with 4 other Hitchin schools (lots of words to learn!) and then sang two on our own - Viva La Vida and our new song 'All the Thinks you can Think' from Seussical the Musical.  It was lots of fun to learn, tricky in places, but we pulled it off and brought the house down!  I had many lovely comments from parents (including parents from other schools!) telling me afterwards how wonderfully our choir performed:

"They all looked like they were enjoying themselves so much"

"They were all so focused and sang with such expression"

"Even though they were not my daughter's school, I think they were easily the most enjoyable to watch.  It was like the conductor had an invisible string from her fingers to each child.  They were superb"

POWA SUMMER FAIR

We sang a couple of songs on our own and also two with the Wilshere-Dacre Band! Rolling in the

Deep and I'm a Believer. It was a great experience to rehearse and perform with a band.  What a sound!

YOUNG VOICES CONCERT - O2 ARENA - Wednesday 31st January 2019

As always, we are all super proud of all our members who came to the O2 for a very long day of singing.  Their energy and happiness was endless and we all had a great (if tiring) day!  Songs included 'Thank you for the Days', 'Moana Mashup', 'Fight Song', 'Greatest Showman Medley' and everyone's favourite 'Pop Medley'.  Awesome music, awesome attitudes, awesome day.  This was our eleventh year of going and we definitely intend to go again next year!

VARIOUS CAROL SINGING FIXTURES AT LOCAL OLD PEOPLE'S HOMES - December 2018

We had to separate our large choir in two for these trips as not many places are able to accommodate our choir of nearly 70! So we took Y5/6 and also Y3/4 out to sing some carols to appreciative audiences at Nightingale House and Westmill Lawns. Thank you to both centres for welcoming us warmly and providing refreshments for the children. We always receive really lovely feedback for these types of events and I am always so proud of the way the children sing their hearts out and also chat amiably and confidently to a wide variety of different people. A hugely worthwhile experience all round!

POWA SUMMER FAIR – Strathmore Infant School –  SATURDAY 23 JUNE – 1:30pm

Lovely singing from our choir on a very hot day at our joint Wilshere-Dacre and Strathmore Summer Fair.  Lots of compliments.  Well done all who attended.

HITCHIN SCHOOLS FESTIVAL – St Mary’s Church, Hitchin – MONDAY 2nd JULY – 7pm

The choir performed some Abba songs with 3 other Hitchin schools and sung their hearts out to our Greatest Showman songs which we sang on our own.  Well done to all soloists who made us very proud indeed.  Thanks to all those parents who came along to watch.

FAIR IN THE SQUARE - SATURDAY 6TH MAY

Thank you to all choir who came along to sing at the Fair in the Square. It was a challenge singing outdoors with lots of background noise, but we did it! And we received some wonderful comments about our good sound and enthusiasm!

CHRISTCHURCH LUNCH CLUB SINGING - THURSDAY 27TH APRIL

The Year 5 and 6 choir members walked into town to entertain the older residents of the community at the Christchurch Lunch club. There was an audience of about 30 people who came to listen to our performances including some of the Young Voices songs, our school song Reaching Higher and a couple of songs that everyone could join in with, Long Way to Tipperary and When the Saints Go Marching In!
