YOUNG VOICES CONCERT - WEMBLEY ARENA - Friday 2nd February 2024

A new school year means only one thing for our Choir - new YOUNG VOICES music to learn!  We are already well underway with learning the songs but as usual there are a lot to learn, including many medleys which include lots of tricky words!  If you have not already, please follow this link to access all the songs/ videos/ dance moves on the Young Voices Music Room website: https://yvmusicroom.com/  You will need to create an account to access them.  Alternatively, you can find all the songs this year on Spotify if you have an account.

The music is fantastic as always and this year includes some great medleys like a Matilda Medley, a Walking Medley and a Moana Mash-up.  We are also learning blues number In the Mood, River Deeo Mountain High and a lovely Korean folk song, Arirang. As every year, we shall also be joining in with the fabulous Urban Strides and learning some of their amazing dance moves.  It promises to be a wonderful day for us all, and any spectators too!

Final choir numbers are needed to be submitted by the end of September so unfortunately it is now too late to apply for the trip.  However, you can sign up to the waiting list as sometimes places become available nearer the actual date.  We apologise to anyone who missed the September deadline; we do always emphasise how numbers are limited and how important it is to get names back to us asap after the letter goes out.  We have, however, worked hard to try and accommodate some of the children who missed the deadline and have found a coach and more staff members to allow this to happen.

Here is a bit of information about the actual day:

  • Children come in as normal on the day, in usual school uniform.
  • T-shirts that have been ordered will be given out on this morning and the children will be able to change their tops over.  If they have not ordered a t-shirt, then they can use one from a previous year or just wear a plain white t-shirt.
  • The coach will be leaving around 11:30am.
  • Everyone will need 2 packed meals with them (lunch and dinner) and plenty of water (recommend two bottles as we cannot guarantee there will be somewhere to fill bottles up at the arena)
  • We will have lunch when we arrive at Wembley and then rehearsals start at 2:15pm and finish at around 5pm.
  • Then, we break for tea and get ready for the concert to start at 7pm.
  • The concert is due to finish soon after 9pm.  It does take a while to get everyone out of the arena safely (we have to wait to be called and this can take up to half an hour after the end of the concert) but we hope to be back at school around 10:30pm, if all goes well.
  • You can either meet us at the coach after the concert and collect your child there, or back at school.  You will need to let the office know which one you choose.  On the day, we will text parents to let them know the exact location of the coach if you are collecting your child from Wembley.
  • Tickets will be given out nearer the time.
  • If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

WE CANNOT WAIT NOW TO HAVE FUN AND SING OUR HEARTS OUT!

Thank you for supporting your child in the best singing experience in their school life!

If your child would like to practise the songs (and most importantly the DANCE MOVES!) please guide them to this website: https://yvmusicroom.com/
