WOW Day field trip to the River Oughton
Year 4 enjoyed beautiful weather during their walk to the River Oughton. We started at the river's source which is an underground spring. We could see the water coming up from the rocks so we continued to follow its journey. We next arrived at the Chalky, so-called because of the chalk stone which lines the river bed making it a rare example of a chalk stream. Chalk streams are protected as they provide habitats for wildlife which are unique. We left the Chalky to make our way to the dog pond before returning to school in time for lunch weary but excited.
