Andy Goldsworthy is an internationally renowned artist originally from Cheshire and now living in Scotland. He is one of a number of artists who are part of the environmental art movement as he uses natural resources which are available e.g. fallen leaves, twigs and wood and flower petals to create his art. It is important to him that natural resources are left untouched and only used when they naturally come to the end of the life. In this way photography is an important element in his art as it captures a moment in the natural life of his art work before decay sets in. He was awarded an OBE in 2000.
